Important Update on Tourism Information...The News Leader (local Newspaper) reported on April 1, 2015. Commission discusses Tourism Opportunities.  The article states: Decatur Co is sitting on prime real estate with over 50 miles of riverfront property and Monday night county commissioners voted to begin to create a plan for development of that fact. Decatur County Chamber Director Charles Taylor had a presentation showing the area which would qualify for an Adventure Tourism District in the county. Taylor's map covered a 3 mile range.  The creation of an adventure tourism district requires the approval of the county commission by a two-third vote, development of a plan and then the application submitted to the Tennessee Department of Revenue for approval.  Not only could the the plan increase the county's tourism benefits and growth, qualifying businesses could also earn a $4500 tax credit from the State. All 18 commissioners were present and voted aye for the proposed plan.
